I am very saddened to hear of Christina's passing. I first met Christina when my eldest son started at St David's Hill Playgroup in 1990 where Christina had been a dedicated assistant for many years. Both my sons have fond memories of her in their early years at the group and I also have wonderful memories of those days with her when I volunteered as a parent helper. It was Christina who encouraged me to do my BTEC course in child care when my youngest started school, I was always very grateful to her for this and all the encouragement she gave me. She supported me so much in those two years and beyond. When Christina made the decision to leave childcare I was offered her role as assistant, to use the idiom, "big shoes to fill". She was definitely my role model in those early days and her patience and kindness to both myself, my sons and all the children who were in her care shone through. After leaving the group we kept in touch, Christina never forgot special dates and I always received birthday and Christmas cards from her,I looked forward to reading her lovely letters that were always enclosed, she always asked after my family and had a true interest in what my son's were doing, she was a wonderful letter writer and a wonderful person
Thank you Christina for all the lovely memories and all the laughs we had together at St Davids Playgroup.
Rest in peace 🕊️
